Plant A Family Tree - €100

E-mail Print PDF

PID_collageThe Pride in Drumshanbo group this year once more plans to ensure that Drumshanbo builds upon the success of last years Tidy Towns competition. This hard working committee meets on a regular basis and has already this year successfully embarked upon and completed a number of town enhancement projects. Park benches have been painted, flower boxes painted and planted with flowers expertly grown in a poly tunnel by members of the group. A litter pickup day held in early April was an outstanding success with more than 25 people offering their help on the day.

The Pride in Drumshanbo group like all voluntary committees needs finances in order to continue with the great work already carried out. Today they are calling for the support of all families in Drumshanbo and asking each and everyone to sponsor a family tree.

What is the plant a family tree initiative?

The plant a family tree initaitive is an idea which was created to allow families in Drumshanbo to show there support for the town and in the process plant something substancial around the town which will have a long an lasting impact.

Imagine your own family being able to sponsor the planting of  a family tree in a central location in and around the town in a bid to mark a special occasion perhaps:-

A Communion.... Confirmation....Wedding..... Birthday..... Wedding Anniversary........
Each tree is marked on a special town map along with the name of the family sponsoring the tree.  In addition you also get a certificate confirming date of purchase, type of tree and location of the tree in the town.

All trees planted will be either Oak or Native trees and range in size from 12-16 feet in height so as to ensure their survival once planted. All trees will be expertly planted on your behalf by the Pride In Drumshanbo group. The first twelve trees have already been planted down by the water tower and are shown in the picture below:-

Trees cost only €100/each and will be allocated on a first come first served basis as locations are limited.

If you are interested in reserving a tree for your own family so as to mark that special occasion -  pick up the phone now and call either Eimear 086 195 5867 or Steve 086 044 7109.
